Dr. Vikash Chatrani
Dr. Vikash Chatrani, Barbadian born, attended Queens College before he started his medical training at the University of the West Indies in Jamaica in 1997. Having completed his pre-clinicals he returned to Barbados to complete his MBBS degree attaining honors in Obstetrics and Gynecology, General Surgery and Pharmacology. He was valedictorian for his year having gotten the gold medal in surgery for all 3 campuses, and recipient of numerous prizes including the Sir Arnott Cato prize for his results in the MBBS examination.
DrVikashKChatrani2Dr. Chatrani started off his OBGYN career in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the QEH after completing his internship in 2003 and worked for 4 years before leaving for Jamaica to complete his Doctorate (DM) in Obstetrics & Gynecology. He is a fellow of the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologist and was the chair for the West Indies section of ACOG before moving to do his clinical fellowship in Gynae-Oncology and Minimal Access Surgery at the Tata Memorial Hospital in Mumbai, India.
On Dr. Chatrani’s return to the QEH in October 2012, he was the catalyst in the Obstetrics & Gynecology department forming a specialist Gynae-Oncology service which addresses all the islands gynae-oncology cases and oversees the Colposcopy clinics. Apart from his role as a Consultant at the QEH Dr Chatrani is the Clinical Director at the Barbados Cancer Society, the 1st Vice President of the Barbados Association of Medical Practitioners, Specialist Physician to the Healthy Caribbean Coalition and an Associate Lecturer with the University of the West Indies.
Dr. Chatrani has admitting privileges at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital and Bayview Hospital.
