Tom McGowan

Dr. McGowan obtained a BSc in Physics, and then an MD from Queen’s University in Kingston, Canada, graduating in 1985. He interned at McGill University, then studied Radiation Oncology, at U of T obtaining his FRCPC in 1991. He obtained his MBA from the University of Toronto in 1995.
Dr. McGowan is currently the managing and medical director of The Cancer Centre Eastern Caribbean, which became operational in June 2015, and The Cancer Centre Bahamas, which has been in operation since 2004.

He was the Head of Radiation Oncology at Trillium Health Partners in Mississauga, Ontario from 2004 to 2014. He was an Information System and clinical consultant on a province wide project to standardize all pathology reports in Ontario from 2005 to 2013. In the early part of this century, he was the President, Medical Director, and founder of Canadian Radiation Oncology Services, a privately managed, publically funded, department of radiation oncology, established to work with CCO to reduce the waiting list for radiotherapy.

He held senior management positions at the Government of Ontario Cancer Agency (Cancer Care Ontario) for 3 years, first as the Provincial Head of Radiation Oncology and then as their Executive Vice President. In recognition of his long standing dedication to quality and innovation, he is
currently an adjunct Professor at the Odette World Health Innovation Network at the Odette School of Business at the University of Windsor.
He currently practices in The Bahamas, Antigua, Anguilla, British Virgin Islands, and St. Lucia.
